"He had a son whose name was Saul, a handsome young man. There was not a man among the people of Israel more handsome than he; he stood head and shoulders above everyone else." 1 Samuel 9:2

when we look
at the chiseled chin,
the piercing blue eyes,
the wind-swept hair
and think,
'that's the one!'
remind us to look
for the warts;
when we admire
those who stand
head and shoulders
above the rest,
point our eyes down
so we can see
the feet of
clay.
