as we explain why
(politically) we need
to throw up barriers at borders, and
(economically) we can’t
support raises for workers
in menial jobs, and (religiously)
folks whose love lives
are different from ours
need to be challenged, you
are lifting up the bullied,
providing medical care for the vulnerable,
making sure folks have a place
to sleep each night, and longing
for us to go and do the same
