you watch us

to see if we will

ever stop staring up

waiting, watching, willing

you to come back,

but turn our gaze

upon the vulnerable for

whom we can care,

the oppressed we

can set free with justice,

the orphans we can bring

into our family,

the broken we can heal

with the balm of grace
