fourth thursday of eastertide

"The LORD passed before him, and proclaimed,

  "The LORD, the LORD,

    a God merciful and gracious,

    slow to anger, 

     and abounding in steadfast 

               love and faithfulness,

     keeping steadfast love for

                the thousandth

                 generation,'"  Exodus 34:6-7a

when we think your love:

strong in its weakness,

tender in its justice,

hopeful in its endurance

is only for a few,

or certain groups,

or for a certain time period,

remind us of that promise

made so long ago that

we are just part of a long line

of recipients of such grace
