the unheard take in deep breaths
to shout your hopes for justice
so that even the most uncaring
of the privileged will hear it in
their soundproofed panic rooms,
while the whispered dreams
of little children staring into
the shadows of their bedrooms
fall like gentle rain so that
the wise ones among us will listen
and understand that our task
is to do everything we can
to make them come true.
