some would call them
clues, others bread crumbs,
but if we tap into stories
about folks who now see
enemies as neighbors or
parents who put aside
their hurt to embrace a child,
if we dip into our memories
of your encounter with
the excluded about a sick child
or the conversation you had
at a well in the heat of midday,
if we replay those flickering
videos of you calling out
your dear friend from the grave
or all those dinners you had
with those we offer closed hearts,
we might catch on to the truth
that your journey's end is
precisely where you are
leading all of us.
