Sixth Friday in Lent

"Mary took a pound of costly perfume made of pure nard, anointed Jesus' feet, and wiped them with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume." John 12:3

you kneel to caress
the feet which will
carry us as fast and
far from you as we can
when you decide
to do what we keep
warning you to avoid.
you waste
yourself
on us, even though
the world whispers
how worthless we
will prove to be.
you gather your tears
in your heart where,
mixed with unconditional
love, they turn into
a perfume which fills
our souls with the
fragrant aroma of grace.
you will pour out
your precious love
upon us, so we are
anointed for that morning
resurrection which awaits
us.
