   to a rebellious people,

since we know better,

than you ever will,

we continually slap

your hands away until,

at the very end of the path

that leads to nothingness,

we reach out and grab

tight to the only thing

that can keep us from

stepping into the abyss,

your heart held out to us,

as it always has been.
