taking the cup from the barista

with a warm smile and warmer tip,

you come over to where

we are sitting, licking foam

from our fingers as we are

hypnotized by our devices,

and as we bemoan all the hurt

and vitriol around us, you invite

us to spend time with you

at the free health clinic with

folks who need attention more

than our social media does

and walk out the door

hoping we will follow you
