Fourth Monday in Lent

“Then looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, ‘Ephphatha,’ that is, ‘Be opened.’ Mark 7:34

put your finger
in our frozen hearts
to melt them with
the warmth of your love
so we may offer
healing to the hurting.
put your finger
in our closed-off ears
to open them
to the cries of injustice.
touch your finger
to our tight-shut eyes
so we will open them
and see the forgotten
all around us
