could we?

we could

feed the hungry,

welcome the outsider,

empty our closets for immigrants,

step in front of bullies,

challenge the oppressors,

speak louder than the haters,

but

we usually choose

not to get

our hands dirty,

our hearts broken,

our feelings hurt,

our faith challenged
