softies

when we are callous

towards others, model

for us what softies are like;

when we turn churlish

with the ones we love,

transfigure us with

your tenderness;

when we are quick

to fly off the handle,

cradle us until we learn

the peace of patience;

when our hearts are

empty of love, fill

them from that fountain

of yours which never

runs dry
