and so, in our ever arrogant
(but, oh so cool), we lean into
that variant reading, whereby we
shatter the Beloved Community,
cling to childish behavior holding
our breath until we turn blue,
ping-ponging back and forth
from this celebrity to that
politician as daily idols,
reposting lies and fake news
and false stories on social media,
doing everything we can
to those that there is not
an ounce of grace to be found
in us.
