rising with the dust motes
in the morning sun or
curling up in the shadows,
we belong to you, Tender Heart,
not because we deserve it
but because of the grace
woven into the seams of our souls.
so may we live
not so much for ourselves
but for those around us,
and never more for them
than we do for you.
and when we come
to the end of life,
may death be like a leaf
on an autumn tree,
finally letting go,
trusting that the Spirit
which first breathed life into us
will carry us home
to you.
