when we look in
the mirror, may we see
not ourselves, but
the lonely teenager
longing for friendship,
the rough sleeper in
need of a comfortable bed,
the forgotten hoping
for recognition by others,
the long line of folks
who have not had
the chances
the privileges
the choices
we have had
