“They sat with him on the ground seven days and
seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his suffering
was very great.” Job 2:13
though we think we should,
we are not always
called to rush in
and fix someone’s life,
to explain their suffering,
or defend God in such moments,
but
just sit by their side
silent and still
ready to be filled
with whatever their
emptiness offers us
