“‘Therefore I will not restrain my mouth;

    I will speak in the anguish of my spirit;
    I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.’” Job 7:11

in these uncertain, confusing,

agonizing, scary times

it is okay

to scream your head off

and holler to the heavens,

to keen your pain with the neighbors

and whisper under the covers,

to turn every prayer into lament

and sing only dirges in the shower.

‘it is okay,’ God says,

‘you are not saying anything

i haven’t felt myself.’

it is okay
