O my people

“'O that my people would listen to me,
that Israel would walk in my ways!'” Psalm 81:13

in those stories we hear

over and over from the 

old folks all around us,

seeds of grace are 

planted deep within us.

in the songs of little kids

being made up as the

bath water cools and

they procrastinate getting

out and going to bed,

we hear songs of love.

in the tear-filled anguish

of young people struggling

with gender issues, we listen

to the wounding of their souls

and the healing hope of God

if we but listen
