First Friday in Lent

“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all, training us to renounce impiety and worldly passions, and in the present age to live lives that are self-controlled, upright, and godly,” Titus 2:11-12

maybe this Lent,
it would be permissible
to simply fast from faith
so that we can jump
feet first into the
social media fray of doing
our darndest to damn
as many people as we can.
maybe this Lent,
it will be allowed for us
to simply say yes to
feeding the angry wolf inside us,
to dive headfirst 
into the deep pools of sensationalism,
to cede all our hopes and dreams
to every form of worldly power.
maybe this Lent,
we will just let you journey
alone,

while we stay

in the wilderness.
