for those who fear him,
and he makes his covenant
known to them." Psalm 25:14
on a hot summer's day,
the wind in our faces,
salt tangy on our lips,
you laugh with delight as
you place my hand
on the tiller, saying,
"it's your turn; remember
what i showed you."
on a cold winter morning, when
it seems that
the chill just won't
let go of my heart,
you pour me a strong cuppa,
slathering butter and jam
on just-baked bread, pushing it
across the table to me;
as i wonder about
the next step in this journey,
worried what it might mean,
you remind me,
"sure, put me down
as a reference; but
you don't have
to ask every time -
that's what friends
are for."
