Second Saturday of Advent

“For he delivers the needy when they call,
    the poor and those who have no helper.
He has pity on the weak and the needy,

    and saves the lives of the needy.”  Psalm 72:12-13

the rich and the powerful

the narcissistic and arrogant

all say the right words

and do all the wrong things:

they say they care,

but don’t;

they claim to be compassionate,

but turn their back on others;

they say they want only the best

for those who vote for them,

and then become their worst nightmares;

so

may we be the ones

who wield no power,

but serve in weakness;

who have no wealth

but share everything we have;

who see no future

but will keep moving

forward
