our Biblical sword drills

so we can skewer those

we are sure are knuckleheads,

we memorize and memorize

obscure verses so we can

trot them out to defend you

against all those folks 

we label as sinners,

we highlight and underline

the passages even you 

are embarrassed that folks

claim come straight from

your very heart,

that

we miss out on the

life of grace, compassion,

justice, and inclusion 

you long to offer to

everyone.
