but since

"When John heard in prison what the Messiah was doing, he sent word by his disciples and said to him, 'Are you the one who is to come, or are we to wait for another?'” Matthew 11:2-3

but

since you seem 

to expect us to truly

care for the most vulnerable

rather than the most powerful,

since you keep 

pushing us to forgive

more times than there

are fingers on our hands,

since you are so concerned

that we be willing to set aside

our privilege so the poor 

might become haves just like us,

you might not understand

why we often wait for God

to become incarnated in

someone more like us,

someone more to our liking.
