may my words

never be sticks

which leave welts

on the souls of another

but be used to build

fires where we can sit

and tell stories of hope

as we gorge ourselves

on s'mores and hot chocolate.

may my words

not ever become stones

which build walls between

those i am called to love

but become paving blocks

for us to walk

the paths of peace.

may my words 

always strengthen 

the spirits of others

and

may they not become

the means by which

i tear down myself.
