we could not
unless,
like Cain,
you cover us with a rainbow
promising never to abandon us,
you give us a sign that
though we are wandering
far from you we are not alone,
you have tattooed a part
of your name on our soul
even though others despise us,
you remember us
even when everyone else
has deleted us from their contacts.
