i cried to you
in my loneliness
and you sent me
to help a refugee
who became my best friend.
i moaned about
my fears of dying
and you asked me
to volunteer in a hospice
so i could witness grace.
i complained that
no one listened to me
and you had me take
a class in sign language
so a little child could
tell me the stories trapped
in her imagination.
