anointing

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon

         me

    because he has anointed me” Luke 4:18a

anoint us, Holy Spirit,

with the balm of compassion

   for bullied kids;

with the oil of hope

   for the broken-hearted;

with the salve of peace

   for the victims of violence;

the embrocation of justice

   for the oppressed;

the lotion of freedom

   for the imprisoned
