keepers

“Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” 1 John 5:21

glowing devices and

plastic cards

   fit so easily

   in our hands;

envy, prejudice,

fear, greed

   rest so comfortably

   in our souls;

anger, bitterness,

judgment, hurt

   leap so quickly

   to our lips;

how can we not

keep

these so close to us?
