you put down the hammer and saw,

you step away from the loom,

you lay aside the quilting squares

to gather us on

your lap, to trace the words

with your fingers

we begin to learn how to

read the faces of others,

listen to the whispers of their souls,

hold their wounded hearts in ours,

freely give away all the

grace, hope, peace, and joy

you share with us every moment.
