our hope
is not a to-do list
we write out each day,
it is that new commandment
serving like a stent in our heart.
it is not a coach's diagram
on a whiteboard before the game,
it is a dogged determination
to do the best we can
in the worst of situations.
it is not a theological
conundrum which
no one can solve,
it is the witness we offer
by the lives we share.
