to those whose hopes
for justice have been taken
away into captivity
by legislative chambers,
to those whose welcome
of outsiders makes them
aliens in their own land
which seems a stranger to them,
to those whose love of
transgender kids earns
them the persecution of
the haters who crawl out
from under their vile rocks,
may you find peace
in the company of those
who are joint outcasts,
may you know this exile
will last for a short while,
may you be the living hope
the world needs in this moment.
