you take the ashes of our hopes
and mix them with your tears
to fill your ink pen, as you
imagine the treble notes
from the silent cries of
the forgotten and forsaken,
using the echoes of the
bullfrogs surrounding
the pond in your yard,
and as the Spirit whispers
the lyrics you need, you
create a new cantata of love
for us to sing every morning.
