we could sleep
in the comfort
of our warm beds
or get up to go out
to gather up the homeless
and take them to shelters.
we could cradle our grudges
in our hearts gently rocking
them until they give us some rest
or we can choose to share
grace with those we can't stand.
we could store our grievances
in the safe deposit boxes
of our weary souls, or we
could wrap our arms around
those who hurt us so terribly
telling them we forgive them.
we could feed on lies
offered to us by those
culinary whizzes of cruelty
or we could drink from
the deep
wells of life,
hope, and truth.
