not that China pattern
passed down the generations
or porcelain vases brought
from far away countries
or jewelry so valuable
that it needs to be kept
locked away and rarely worn
or heavy, bulky, blocky
antique furniture that the
kids admit is just not them.
but clay,
dust of the earth
dust of the earth
scooped up in your
callused hands, cradled
gently as you shape
us not for power,
but weakness.
not for hubris
but humility.
not for cruelty
but compassion.
not for judgement
not for judgement
but for justice.
not for hate
but for hope.
