for helping those whose plates
don’t even have crumbs;
when the angriest voices
think they can drown out
our lullabies of grace
to the forgotten;
when the fearmongers think
they can shake us from believing
that love will topple hate
from its pedestal,
you give us the jolt
of 5-hope energy we need
