thirty-three

“Come and hear, all you who fear God,
    and I will tell what he has done for me.”  Psalm 66:16

not a Damascus highway
blinded-by-the-light moment,
but you always holding my hand,
especially when i stumbled
down the road too-often-taken;
not a jumping out of bed,
shouting “it’s a miracle” healing,
but being cradled in your peace
as i cried myself to sleep on lonely nights;
not a never-had-a-doubt life,
but a tempestuous relationship
filled with flung questions, pain-filled
accusations, silence-filled years
of wondering where you are . . .

those are the stories i can
share with others
