thinking
forgiveness is quantum physics,
when it is two kids
going down a slide together 5 minutes
after yelling ‘don’t ever talk to me again!’
at one another;
love is only understood by those
filled with overflowing passion
(or is it hormones?),
when it is a skin-as-thin-as-paper
hand blessing a grandchild;
hope is a destination we can
never imagine reaching, when
it is the new neighbor knocking on our door,
we manage to complicate
the simple gifts you offer to us
in every moment
