in the little boy

who writes Santa

to put all his gifts

under the tree of a

classmate who is poor,

you come.

in the teenager 

who puts her arm

around a transgender

friend, warning the bullies

to pack off, 

you come.

in the family

who opens their hearts

to the Palestinian students

who have no home 

to return to because 

it has been reduced

to rubble,

you come.

and we are 

blessed.
