when we hoard
our forgiveness when
others hunger for it,
when we put
our grace into the
safe deposit boxes
of our hearts, and then
throw away the key,
when we assume
you will always love
us not matter what
as
we set locked gates
around our own love,
well,
why in the world
would you want to have
anything to do with us,
our God?
