the children on the playground
who get into a kerfuffle over
something insignificant, but
don't let it ruin their friendships,
the little boy gluing popsicle
sticks together to make a raft
for the runoff from the storm
as he imagines sailing to Scotland,
the little girl lying in the backyard
watching the stars emerge
in the brittle night sky, wondering
who else, somewhere else, is
watching at they same time.
