not just in that moment
when we said 'yes,' but
in all those heart-breaking
ones when we shout 'no!'
not just during that hour
sitting in hard pews, but
all those working at our desks,
studying late at night, surfing
foolishly on the internet.
not just on those mountaintops
where we want to build
lasting monuments to you, but
in those shadowy valleys
where death tries to welcome
us into its cold home.
not just now,
but then
and forever.
