with loneliness silent
beside me, and a little
child comes up and
offers me half a sandwich.
i try to fall asleep in
an unfamiliar bed with
the distracting voices
and quiet din on
a hospital floor, and you
turn the page as you read
me a story of hope.
i wander through the
neighborhood, trying to
remember where i live,
and in my confusion, a
stranger stops to ask
if there is anything they
can do, and
"I will sing of your steadfast love, O LORD, forever;
with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations." Psalm 89:1
