perhaps it is walking up
the sidewalk to the porch
of the neighbor whose
political views abhor us,
maybe it is noticing that
tattooed and pierced and
rainbow-haired kid in
the library and asking
if they need any help
with the homework before them,
it could be finally
shutting down those devices
and soul seducing social media sites
to simply sit in silence
in order to hear the life-giving
rhythm of creation's heartbeat,
but we all have some Samaria
we have to pass through
in order to sit at a well
and share a cup of living water
with someone who risks
the same journey for us.
